Does My Ex Want Me Back?
Sign #1 They Are Reaching Out To You a Lot.
We will start with one of the most obvious signs your ex could give you if they want you back.
Contacting you.
They could be doing this with texts or with calls. Maybe even in person.
If he/she starts contacting you, it's a clear sign that something is going on.
While them just simply talking to you is already a good sign, I want you to really pay attention to what they are talking about.
Are they reaching out to you just because they want to tie up some loose ends?
Ask you who will pay the electric bill from last month?
Or are they reaching out to you with interest on how/what you are doing?
There is a critical difference here and you need to learn how to spot it.
If they are asking about you and about how you are doing it's obvious that they are interested and that's a really good thing.
Now, there is a caveat here, unfortunately.
It needs to be often.
Although, it's still a good sign if they are reaching out to you, the moment you can truly tell that they want you back is if their contact attempts follow a pattern and happen multiple times.
If you have been following this blog and read the guide on how to get your ex back, you already know that you absolutely do not want to contact your ex for at least the first 30 days after a breakup.
This is what's called no contact and it's a crucial step on the journey to get them back.
As I've mentioned before, no contact is absolutely crucial in getting them back.
When you are employing no contact it's very possible that your ex tries to contact and reach out to you. This just means that no contact is working as intended.
Now, even though them reaching out to you is a great sign it doesn't necessarily mean that you should just immediately cut out your silence.
If they tell you straight up that they want to get back together with you (happens more often than you think if you employ advanced tactics), then yes you should cut off no contact but in most of the situations...
Don't break it.
Sign #2 - They Want To Meet You
This is possibly the best sign they can give you.
You see if they are texting you and maybe even calling you then good, but at some point, you have to actually meet them and if they are the ones who want to meet you, then you are in a really good place.
If they actually want to get back together with you, they will find a way to try to meet you in person.
They will eventually have to meet you if they actually want you back. This is crucial.
Now, if you are then meeting them and they are being flirty and touchy with you, I can guarantee that they want you back desperately.
You have made them miss you which means they can't help themselves.
If they want you back they will feel a deep urge to constantly be close with you and touch you. Pay attention to this.
Sign #3 They Become Jealous
No there is a caveat in this sign too...
You see, jealousy in itself isn't really an amazing sign that they want you back.
Jealousy combined with some of the other signs mentioned here though...
That's a really good indication.
Jealousy is complicated but it can definitely be a great sign that they want you back.
Sometimes, (men especially) can be territorial and even if they don't want you back, they don't like the idea of someone else having you either so they act jealous.
But still, if your ex gets jealous when they see that you've been hanging around with the opposite sex, it's because they most likely still have feelings for you and want you back.
Think about it...
If they didn't want anything to do with you ever again and really didn't care at all, they wouldn't get jealous in the slightest wouldn't they?
At the very least, your ex acting jealous means that they still want to have you around in case they don't enjoy their single life after all.
Sign #4 They Are Really Emotional
Have you heard that your ex has been really emotional after your breakup?
Heard that they have been sad and crying?
If someone doesn't care about you in the slightest, they are not going to act all emotional for a long time after a breakup.
When someone is super emotional for a while after a breakup, it's a good sign that they might be having some second thoughts.
Staying emotional for a long time after the breakup doesn't happen unless you actually still care about the person.
If your ex is sad when your relationship ends that's completely understandable and normal but if they keep holding onto these emotions for a time period after the breakup, something is up.
If they really wanted to be done with you and never think about you again, why would they still be sad or maybe even angry after the breakup instead of starting their new single life?
Because they are still constantly thinking about the time you spent together and they aren't ready to let go of the memories.
Obviously, they probably aren't just going to come to you and admit this straight to your face but they won't be able to hold off their emotions forever.
Sign #5 They Suggest Staying as Friends
This is a very common thing that happens after a breakup.
Now although this could mean that they are just trying to say this to establish that there is no bad blood between you two, it can have a deeper meaning too.
If they are telling you that they still want to be friends with you, it means they don't want to lose you completely and at least a part of them is still wondering internally if they are making the right decision.
No matter the circumstances though, I never recommend being friends with your ex and I have already written an article on why that is.
If you still have feelings for them, being friend-zoned is never a good thing for you.
Now, I know it can be tempting and you might think that "hell yeah I'll still have them around" but I don't recommend this because trust me when I say that you won't get them back this way.
Sign #6 They Are Asking About You
If you have been finding that your ex has been asking about you a lot it can be a surefire sign that they are holding onto you.
They are still interested in you if they keep asking about you through people.
Maybe this has happened through mutual friends or colleagues.
Either way, if they have moved on or found another girlfriend/boyfriend they aren't going to be interested in you or anything related to you anymore. Plain and simple.
This could also escalate into them trying to make you jealous and as previously mentioned, jealousy is a strong indication of feelings.
Sign #7 They Apologize And Take Responsibility
They might have been the ones who broke up with you but if they start taking responsibility for their contribution to the breakup, it's a really good sign they have changed their mind.
Now, if they really don't want to lose you they might just straight up tell you that they want to get back together with you.
This could also indicate that they want to keep their options open and keep you as a strong possibility for the future.
Again, I do not recommend letting your ex dictate this.
Never, under any circumstance become your ex's backup plan. You want a permanent lasting relationship right?
You want to make sure they know that if they don't take you back soon you will move on and they will never get you back.
Even if that isn't the case you want them to think that since you don't want to just be some backup plan for your ex.
If they see you as someone lower value than them...
They will start thinking that they can just keep you around for the possibility of one day deciding to take you back, don't let them do this because then, that day will never come.
If you become your ex's backup plan, they will never ever take you back.
So, do as I say and let them know that you will be gone if they don't truly want you back.
